Is it worth me buying a bridge camera?
I already have the samsung ST600 and would prehaps like a bridge camera. The Nikon L120 has interested me as it has good reviews and is just over £100. I haven't got much to spend (£130 max).So I was just wondering if it is worth me buying a bridge camera (most probably the L120) or to stick to my ST600. Also, any other suggestions for bridge cameras are welcome. Thanks!
Added (1). I'm thinking of buying the L120 because it seems like a better camera but because I'm a complete beginner, I'm not too sure!
Added (2). @Sean, yes i have looked at the comparison, thank you for providing that for me. I'm not sure what all the numbers and figures mean though!
- The P500 is too much out of my price range.
The nikon 1 are very good! And are more than £130 but it's well spent!
If your pretty sure it have to be max £130 i'd look at some of the cheep camera's that have a good megappixel.
I don't particularly like bridge cameras. What at first seems like a huge advantage as they have high zoom power lenses actually can be a disadvantage as some, most, or all of them have optical quality issues. Fact is, a manufacturer has a hard time making a $1, 000 12x zoom lens for a DSLR, how much less quality will a 30x lens costing $20 have.
And like all Nikon's "L" series compacts, is is an entry level camera, and has only the most basic functions.
If you want a good camera in your price range, look for the Canon SX130 or the SX150.
AVOID the Nikon 1! Have you looked at a Nikon P500?
The L120 is sure a decent camera, but you do not say why you are wanting to buy it

What do you gain, the extra zoom, much closer macros & a marginally wider aperture
add:
Have you gone through the side by side comparison
have you taken note of what you stand to gain
best would be go to store and spend some time with the L120, then decide
add 2
the BIG difference between your present ST600 & the L120 is you get 21x optical zoom v/s 5x in your ST600
Only if that appeals to you, should you consider the L120
The L120 isn't a bridge camera. It's a bridge like camera, but without any of the key controls that bridge cameras have. This is the same amongst all Nikon Coolpix L cameras.
If you're looking to buy a bridge or travel zoom then the Fujifilm bridge cameras are all top of the class in their respective price ranges.
