I'm looking for a good DSLR camera under $600?

At first my to go was going to be the Cannon Rebel T4i, but I heard the cannon cameras don't take great video.
I'm looking for a DSLR camera that takes great high quality pictures for self portraits scenery ect. And high qualoty video would a nikon or sony be better? Please give me non opinion answers!

And what know nothing have you been listening to that Canon dslr cameras don't take good video… They obviously know nothing about Canon cameras.
I shoot all my video, and I do quite a bit of it both personal and professional with my Canon t3i. It's all good and the camera is $600 with an 18-55 lens.

The canon t3i woeld be your best option

Yes, any current Nikon and Canon dSLR has a video feature, but they are NOT the first choice if you intend to be shooting primarily video.
For the cost of the additional accessories you will need to make a dSLR into a viable video camera, you could have a great dSLR AND a video camera.
A video camera that shoots Full HD and has a 40x optical zoom lens, will cost you less than $250.
If you are really doing to spend a lot of time shooting artful "selfies", then look at the Canon T3i/600D or Nikon D5100. Both have articulated LCD's so you can see yourself as you pose.

In www.cameta.com---you will find the NIKON D3300 Digital w/ included lens just the precise camera you will need---at your price!

What you heard was wrong. Canon cameras take as good video as any DSLR. You should consider the competition, however. The Canon T5/1200D - $550, Nikon D5100 - $430, Sony SLT A57 - $470, and Pentax K30 $580 are all in the same budget ballpark. They might not be "better", but they might fit your hands better.
The T4i has a couple features you might prefer of the T3i.

Well, I wouldn't trust the opinion of anyone who can't spell CANON.
Learn to spell, and then look at the Sony SLT A-58, it's better for video than a true DSLR, if you can get around the electronic viewfinder.

It's CANON!
And if you want to take videos, buy a video camera or camcorder.

Never shoot anyone with a cannon. They make a lot of noise & could ruin someone's day.
I'd listen to Jim. The man knows what he's talking about. He does quality work. I've seen it.
Cheaper: Nikon D3100 or Canon Rebel T3.

The Pentax K-500 sells in the range of $450.00. But Pentax's claim to fame is that the camera will except lenses dating back to the film era. You can't say that about Canon & Nikon. This important as DSLR's are "money pits" in a way! The body and a rank lens are just the beginning. Another plus for my switching to Pentax was/is the stabilization feature is built into the camera body not each lens purchased. As far as video is concerned I never could understand why people will spend $500.00 or more for a "still" camera, when for $200-to-$300 will buy a great camcorder. And not to mention camcorders have different sensors which do not heat up as rapidly as "still" cameras.

Both of these models are good for anything if you're up to it.
