Nikon SLR Cameras

I'm looking for a camera?

I'm 15 years old and I would really like a camera for my 16th birthday. I have digital cameras and they're great, but I want something more professional. I'm considering going into a career in photography so I figured I would get started early. I love taking nature shots, particularly flowers and flowering trees. I'm looking for something that can take multiple pictures quickly. Maybe something from Nikon? Any suggestions?

Your first camera will not be your best camera, or your last one. Don't worry too much about getting it right the first time.

It sounds like you might want a DSLR rather than a compact or "point-and-shoot." The manual controls and overrides, and the pro-oriented electronics, will allow you to acquire and store images faster (which means you can shoot faster). What's your budget? The Pentax K-r is about the best kept secret in digital photography. Nikon's D3200 also promises to have some very cool tricks. For about the same price point the Canon T3i is a very solid performer.

Try not to get distracted by ISO, megapixels, and noise. Any camera made in the last five years will take beautiful pics that rival or exceed the quality of top-of-the-line 35mm film cameras. As long as you have at least six megapixels, manual control, and program autoexposure, you can't go wrong.

Since your not using your hard earned cash for it, ask for a higher than cheapest model. I suggest you start looking at page 2.

I would recommend the Nikon D3100. I started on a Samsung and upgraded to this camera just this year. This camera can take 3 pictures per second, and has a 14 mega-pixel sensor.
