I have a Nikon AF 1.8 50mm lens, but it won't work on a DSLR?
I have tried it on a couple of DSLRs, but the lens only reads EE in the finder. Can I not use this lens in the automatic mode on a DSLR? The lens came off a Nikon N5005. There are no other markings on the lens such a 'E' to indicate what model it is.
If it has an electronic coupling to a DSLR, set the aperture ring to the highest f number (probably f 22). That will enable the camera to set the aperture electronically.
The aperture ring must be set to the highest number (usually f/22) for the lens to work.
The camera is telling you (EE error) that the ring is not in the correct position.
Otherwise, you can still use the lens in your camera's manual exposure mode.
It's an excellent lens, the Nikon 50mm f/1.8 AF. That's the exact model designation-nothing more nothing less. I had one from an F-801 but I already passed it on to my son together with a D50.
The FEE is just a warning. Set the aperture ring to largest f/number then lock it. You can change aperture size using the wheel on the camera instead. According to the article below, you won't be able to AF with it on certain Nikon models but will work otherwise in all camera modes.
