I live in NJ and since i'm only 17 i have no idea how to travel around New York. On July 14th I'm going to a baseball game at Citi field (Queens) that starts at 2:00. I just found out though that one of my favorite bands (the desendents) is opening up along with another band at a concert that starts at 5:00 at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh. I'm willing to leave the game early but want to see as much of it as possible. How can get i get from the 2 venues by train or bus and then back to new Jersey (Princeton area) when the concerts over. Is this possible, because i have no idea what I'm doing.

You may not see much of the game. CitiField and the Jones Beach Theater are not even close to each other.

By the way - if you don't have tickets for the concert you may find that it is sold out by the time you get there. Most concerts there do sell out.

To get to Jones Beach from CitiField:
- You have to get over to Main St Flushing (either walk - about 12 minutes) or take the Main St bound 7 train for 1 stop to the last stop (Main St). Subway fare $2.75 for a single fare ticket or $2.50 if you have a MetroCard.

At Main St take a NICE route N20 bus to Hicksville, transfer there for a N87 bus to Jones Beach (ask for a transfer when getting on the N20 bus in Flushing) - Fare is $2.25 in coins. The N87 goes to the East Bathhouse at Jones Beach, from there walk to the theater.

This bus takes 1 hour 5 minutes from Flushing to Hicksville

N87 timetable: http://www.nicebus.com/Maps_and_Schedules/Interactive_System_Map/IndividualMap/index.html?ID=4897

This bus only runs once per hour and takes about 45 minutes from Hicksville to Jones Beach. You are looking at 2 hours - 2 1/2 hours plus total to get there from CitiField.

To get from Jones Beach to NY Penn Station (going home):

- Take the N88 bus (at the west bathhouse at Jones Beach to the Freeport LIRR train startion
(this bus runs once per hour with buses at 6:32 PM, 7:02 PM, 8:02 PM and 9:02 PM. Bus fare $2.25 in coins.
- At Freeport take a NY Penn Station bound LIRR train (Bablyon Branch). LIRR fare $9.00 (Buy the ticket BEFORE getting on the train).
- At NY Penn Station go upstairs to the NJ Transit/Amtrak area for the next NJ Transit N. E. Corridor (Trenton bound) train to Princeton. NJ transit fare: $16.50

All things considered - I say stick with the Met game and skip the concert. You be spending more time traveling than enjoying the game or concert.
