How much will I need to spend for a beginners camera in photography?
I thinking of taking an introduction class in photography for college. But, I saw some pricy cameras for around 2-3, 000 thousand dollars. GEE GOLLY. Seriously? Thanks for any serious answers. I might not take it after all since I don't make enough money to spend the extra bucks on a camera like that. I looked at DSLRs Nikon and Canon and wow.
Email/talk to the professor and see what they want. If they require you to use film, a digital camera isn't going to do you any good. If they do require a digital one, a basic entry-level DSLR will be fine - The Rebel T3 and Nikon D3100 are the two most popular entry-level models. Including an 18-55 kit lens, the T3 costs about $450 and the D3100 costs about $550. But just email him/her before spending buying anything.
Wow. I'd say you could find quite an acceptable camera for a whole lot less, but I'd suggest going to the college and finding out from the instructor what he suggests. It depends on what he will be doing in the class. After finding out what you need look for good used ones or head down to a pawn shop to see what they have.
I started out with a camera that used film in a cartridge. I don't even remember what it was, but it took a couple great pictures. That hooked me. I bought my first 35mm camera and had a ball with it. I now have a couple of the old ones AE-1, Rebel, and a newer digital which isn't that great because of what they cost. Digitals are nice in that you can fire off a million pics, but with the older 35s you need to learn what your doing because it costs money to develop those pics.
If nothing else find one you can afford and start playing around with it to see if you find it fun.
enjoy
I would contact the teacher and ask them what kind of camera you would need.
You probably need a DSLR, or atleast a bridge camera, to use manual mode.300$+ should be expected.
You can pick up a 35mm Canon SLR on ebay for about $20. You can get a 50mm 1.8 lens used for under $100.
That and some film is really all you need to get started.
Well, it can easily be come in 400-500$. Nikon has very good market value try that one it's best for beginners.
