Lens fell off my camera

Every time I press this button on my camera the lens falls off. I only got it a couple weeks on boxing day week, but it's still was a expensive camera. It's the Nikon D800 or 900 or something. I'm really worried my camera is broken now cause I can never get the lens to stay on. Is this covered under warranty? I'm really frustrated. Can anyone help me? Also where can I get my memory card out I forgot where I put it in?

I'm guessing both situations are operator error. The lens twist on and lock. If the locking mechanism is broken, then I would take the camera back. Try reading you manual.

There's a certain lock-in/release button that you should never "play" with. It locks in the lens, and when you need to put the lens up, you press it to release the lens away from the camera body. If it isn't staying attached now, chances are you broke the lock clip from the lens, or from the camera body, and you'd need to send it in to the company to get it repaired. But, next time, if there's a manual that comes with the camera, read it. You'd go a long way with it.

Try putting the lens back on by twisting it properly according to the manual. If that doesn't help, then send it to the company to have it repaired. You should automatically have warranty on it if you just purchased it, but I don't know much about that.

If you are that clueless about just the basics of photography, you spent too much money for a camera that is way above your skills or knowledge.

At this point put the camera away until you can take a class in photography before you cause damage to it.

FINALLY "Cedy" gave you the correct answer. I can't get over all these so called "pros" who could not help you out on this. It is a very common problem, though us preeffisionnals have different ways of dealing with it. Personally, I have always found duct tape to be my best solution. Of course, needless to say, you have to use the proeiffissional black duct tape, not that silver stuff. Wrap it around the lens and across the camera body a few good rounds and the problem will be solved! You would think that after all these years, the people making these Nicon and Cannon DSRL cameras would fix this issue, but until then us proffissianal photographers will have to be inventive and address the problem ourselves.

Now that you know how to fix it, you will be ready to go shoot weddings!

As for your memory card, don't worry about it. All us pros just buy a new camera when the card gets full.

This happens to me all the time, I figure the camera's round hole is the problem. The lens is round, the hole is round, hence there's no grip.

Here is what I do, I park my pick-up on hill and set my new lens behind the tire, take off the brake, and by doing that, it bends the lens a tad. Now when I put in on the camera, it takes a lot of effort, I even have to use a crow bar sometimes. Once it's on though, it never comes off.

EDIT: Steve makes a good point, the key word is black duct tape, as the silver stuff comes from south Artica and is known to carry disease. Would you eat a raw chicken, NO. Same thing. I guess you could hold the camera away from your face and about two or so feet away, but that is more of a preffisinal thing.

Check your household insurance and handbook. Clearly guarantees do not cover damage. Do not try to force a damaged lens onto the camera body.

I know this is a joke. It has to be a joke. Otherwise you'd be institutionalized with no access to a computer.

Some Locktite will fix that right up. Make sure you spray the whole thing down with brake cleaner first so that it gets a good grip.

just buy more memory cards and tape them to the camera…
