I really like it but will it work with my nikon d5000?

Basically, no. You would not be happy with this lens.

You will have to do stop down metering. And there's no auto-focus.

So the first answer is correct--you won't be happy with it.

It should be able to work but you'll probably have to use manual focus. I use manual focus lenses and I'm quite happy of how the pictures come out as oppose to the starter lens 18-55mm lens on autofocus that it came with.
