Will an adapter convert a screwmount on a hoya lens to a bayonet mount?

If so will there be any sacrifice to size/ quality? I have the hoya 70-210mm f3.8 HMC zoom and macro. I don't know much about the lens buyt would like to use it on my Nikon d3000. Any information is appreciated.

There are adapters for the M42 or Pentax screwmount lens to fit a Nikon. One type is a simple adapter that will accept any M42 lens but will not allow focusing to infinity. The other more expensive type contains an optical piece that will allow focusing to infinity but will limit the lenses you can use to those that don't have protruding rear ends found in most wide angle lenses.
