Which camera i should go for? Nikon or Canon. My budget is 30000?

The Nikon D5100 is an excellent camera. There should be no confusion. Canon makes excellent cameras also, as does Pentax and Sony. But, you should go with what you know.

All Pentax DSLRs and Sony SLTs have body motors - Canon only use lens motors, but Nikon are too cheap to make life convenient for owners of their basic models.

All Pentax DSLRs have pentaprism (brighter) viewfinders and the ability to meter with manual-focus lenses.

Sony's SLTs produce better video than any DSLR.

Both Pentax and Sony have their anti-shake systems built into the body.

People who are truly ready to move up to a DSLR (and actually have something between their ears) look at All the alternatives, rather than just the two who bray the loudest.

Pentax K50 or K5II are as good if not better in many ways. However, in the end it doesn't really matter. Get the one that fits your budget and does the things you need it to do. They all about the same with a few differences.

They are both very good and either will give you good quality and service.
Look at both and decide which has the features you most want/need.
