What's wrong with my Nikon D3000?

My Nikon D3000 was working perfectly fine seconds before. I was taking photos and it was fine. And then suddenly I realised it was coming up with an error message saying, 'Error. Press shutter release button again.' I did this, but the message continued to come up.

Was it something I did? Because it seemed perfectly fine and then this message suddenly appeared. Does anyone have any idea what's wrong with it?

The best place for issues like that is the manufacturer. Give Nikon a call at 1-800-NIKON-UX (1-800-645-6689)

My first suggestion would be to try a new card.

If that doesn't work, shut down, pull the battery for a short time allowing the camera to re-boot, turn it on again and try that.

If all that fails, I agree, call Nikon.

How is the battery charge? The D60 and possibly the D3000 like to announce a low charge with dysfunctional bahavior.
