What's the correct setting for Nikon D5000 when using reverse kit lens? - 1
I bought a reverse kit lens adapter for my Nikon D5000 so I could do macro shots but even with the adapter, the camera says NO LENS ATTACHED. It switched to manual focus and truned VR off but it's still the same.
From what I can see on these links, there are some problems with lighting and aperture settings associated with trying to use a reversed lens for macro photography. I went through some of the links, but couldn't find a specific answer for your question. I'll give you the links so that you may find the answer you're looking for in there somewhere. Good luck!

The basic reason for "no lens attached" is there's no lens connections available to the camera so it can't "see" a lens so…
You were duped into thinking this would work but obviously it doesn't. Do your research and see what you come up with but, in the end, an SLR has connections on the lens mount that have to "see" a lens.
If it doesn't, "no lens" and you're out of luck on this one.
A d5000 will only work with a reversed lens in full manual mode (the m on the top dial).
Even then, a modern kitzoom will be very trick to handle since it lacks an aperture ring. If you're serious try to find an old manual focus lens, a 50mm e-series for eample.
