What lens AF with my Nikon D5100 camera?

I Have the D5100, What type of lenses do I need to buy for it to AF on my camera! Please help thanks! I want maybe the 24-70 or the 70-200 Nikon. What does it have to say for it to AF With My Camera! D5100 Please Thanks!

Lenses marked AF-S will autofocus on your camera.

AF (without the S suffix) will not.

AF-S and AF-I lenses will autofocus on the D5100

both the 24-70 and 70-200mm lenses are AF-S and will autofocus on your camera

All AF-S and AF-I lenses will AF with your camera. You don't need a 24-70 or 70-200 since you're just starting out.

If you want lenses that auto focus on your D5100 then buy Nikon AF-S lenses. Sigma, Tamron and Tokina also have lenses that will auto focus on your camera. Just read the description of the lenses on their websites.

Buy A Nikon AF-S lens. You should also try an instructional DVD they have that will tell you all about your camera, it takes you at an in depth look and will teach you what you wanted to know. I used the Quickpro DVD for my T3i and I learned a lot. Here is the link for your camera
