The only AF-S Nikkor lens that is "affordable" is the 60 mm f/2.8. $600 or 85 mm f/3.5, $530

When people ask for "affordable" lenses, we really need some kind of budget to answer.

My last lens cost me just over $6000 and it was a bargain for what it does.

Try Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6
I purchased this lens for my Nikon D3100, and absolutely love it! My picture quality is great, way better than using my 18-55mm lens that came with the camera. I highly recommend this lens to users who are just getting into photography, and are looking for some bigger lenses! Definitely worth the money!
