What Digital Pro Camera is best for me?

I'm having some trouble choosing the right camera for me. If anyone can help, preferably some one with decent amount of professional digital pro Camera knowledge. I been looking into buying a nikon d90, but was wondering with all this new stuff coming out and things changing so rapidly(HD cameras) what would be the best camera for my money(something not to pricy, preferably lesser then 1000 if possible). I'm a beginner with digital photography. I have done some shooting before with some different digital cameras and Done plenty of film photography, but still consider myself a beginner when it comes to digital photography. I wanted something also that will be good once i become more intermediate photographer as well. I do not know if any of you have any suggestions for me or if the d90 is a good camera for me?

First off… Have you used a DSLR before? If you have and understand the basics of using one you can consider the D90 or the D7000… It is said if you have a D90 it's more than enough but if you don't have a D90 it would be better to go for a D7000… The D7000 has a bit more features than the D90.It is a pro camera… Else what I would suggest is go to a rental store and rent out the camera and see what you like. I'm planning to go for the D7000 in the near future.

Pro or no pro, doesn't matter.

The only area where the D90 is truly outclassed by other cameras is the video.

A d7000 doesn't offer a lot more features, only three things really stand out
- video
- weather sealing
- Metering for Ai lenses.
