What are the best lenses for portrait shooting?

It's for my girlfriend. She has a nikon d5000. I believe she already has a… 15-200mm and a macro lens. She's starting to get offers to take portraits. I wanted to get her a lens for out door portrait shots.
One that'll give great quality; sharpness, clear, etc.

The macro lens (if it is the 60 mm f/2.8) is an excellent portrait lens

I have used the 18-200 mm to shoot head and shoulders with it set to 60 mm

Both of those lenses produce "sharp and clear" images.

If you want a portrait only lens, look at the AF-S 50 mm f/1.4. The 85 mm on a D5000 is rally too long, fine for a full frame camera like the D700, but not for any of the APS-C sensored cameras like her fine D5000
