Upgrading my Nikon Camera Lens?

I Have a Nikon D5000 camera with a Nikon AF S-18-200. I take pictures of swimming, motocrosses, soccer and running events. Thinking about upgrading to the Nikon 70-200mm AF-s VRII is it worth the money and that much better.

Just make sure it is 2.8. I'm a canon guy so not familiar with nikon and too lazy to look it up.anything in the $1500 range and up you can bet it is a great lens. Its all about the glass as they say… Don't go cheap.sports photography requires 2.8 and good glass

Short answer, yes and then some. Long answer, it will not get you more range, it will let in more light and focus faster. You will get an interesting balance challenge though, that's a big lens.
