Thinking about starting Photography?

So I don't have a good camera now other than on my phone but I love taking pictures and editing them… Of nature, people, things… I don't wanna buy a beginners camera for 300$ then a pro for 600$… I wanna start out with a decent camera that isn't TOO hard for a beginner. But it's not like I'm incompetent. I used my friends sickkk nikon for a couple hours and she was surprised at some of my shots… And I loved doing it. But I don't know a thing about photography… I'm gonna find a cheep beginners class this summer but till then I wanna get to know my camera and what not. I'm willing to use the big bucks and I know the cameras themselves range but it's the lenses that are expensive and I'd upgrade the lens when I knew it was time… But yah someone said a Nikon D70 or Canon Rebel Xsi but then again there are so many different kinds. Any advice on some good cameras for someone like me and good editing programs or sites.

Consider the Canon EOS 1000D. Its a great camera with a vast array of features and functions. There's a changeable ISO, aperture, Exposure, saturation and quality of picture. It's also got a 'auto' feature, which does all the settings for you. Easy to use, and although it costs around £300, its well worth the money for crystal clear shots every time!

There are a lot of choices, and a lot of them offer very similar features. It might come down to which camera feels best in your hands. The prices on all the cameras below are rough guesses and include a standard 18-55mm lens.

Entry Level

Canon EOS 1000D (about $550)
Canon EOS 550D (about $800)
Nikon D3100 (about $700)
Pentax K-x (about $550)
Pentax K-m (about $650)

of those the picks would be the Pentax K-m and the Nikon D3100. Not all that impressed with Canon entry level cameras… They don't take much in the way of rough treatment.

Mid-Level

Canon EOS 60D (about $1100)
Nikon D90 (about $1000)
Nikon D7000 (about $1300)
Pentax K-r (about $800)
Pentax K-7 (about $1200)

all of those are very fine cameras… They are cameras with enough capacity for you to grow as a photographer. I have preferences but they are emotional preferences. I guess I would choose the Canon EOS 60D, the Nikon D7000, or the Pentax K-7… And the D7000 probably just wins because it has a Magnesium Alloy body.

edit: changed my mind… I'd get the Pentax K-7 which also has a magnesium alloy body.

1) don't jump into using a DSLR - take baby steps…
2) DSLR photography is expensive…
3) start with a bridge camera - lot of camera for your money (Fuji HS10 or Canon SX30)
4) learn the basics of photography - http://photo.tutsplus.com/articles/round-ups/100-helpful-photography-tutorials-for-beginners-and-professionals/
