I'm trying to narrow the search. I'm just starting out and with some help from a previous question a little research of my own, i know a few cameras i def don't want. That still leaves me about 75% sure i'm looking at something good for a learning tool. As a learning tool i have started my hunt on ebay i have a list of what i'm looking at, at the moment. Sorry it isn't short but here we go…

*Sony A300
*Canon EOS Rebel XS
*Canon EOS Rebel T1i
*Canon EOS Rebel T2i
*Nikon D40
*Nikon D50
*Nikon D70
*Nikon D80

now like i said i don't know much and these are just what i have ebayed so i'm open to suggestion. But if you could give me a little more than just the name of a model i would greatly appreciate it!

The best thing to do is go to a camera store (not an electronics store) and hold, look at, and try the different brands and models within your budget. But don't forget that with ANY DSLR style camera, your budget must also include lenses, memory card, extra battery, camera case, etc. Most camera store also offer beginner and intermediate camera lessons ( sometimes free if you buy the camera there)

You are the one who will be using it, so get something that feels natural to you with easy to find controls. You will miss shots if you are constantly fumbling with the camera.

Go to http://www.yellowpages.com and type in camera and your city, state to find the camera stores near you.
