Sunpak Auto 144D Thyristor work for D5000?

Will the flash noted above work with my Nikon D5000?

I hear that some flashes if they aren't compatible will ruin your camera so I just want to be sure.

What is the trigger voltage?

First find out what that is and then call Nikon and see if the D5000 will be damaged by a trigger voltage over 250v.

The link below, shows that the Sunpak 144D has a trigger voltage of under 7v
