Sony slt a57 or nikon d5100?

I'm abegiiner to photography. After lots of research i have narrowed down to sony slt a57 or nikon d5100. I'm more inclined to buying the sony but need an expert opinion. Please advise.

Nikon D5100 is best and Nice camera with excellent features.

The Nikon's a true DSLR, making it a better bet for stills.

The Sony will blow the Nikon away if you want video.

I have owned both and would have to say they are each intended for very specific shooters. The Nikon is an excellent camera that beats the Sony primarily in low lighting. Particularly if you often shoot at ISO higher than 3200, the Nikon is the camera. However, if speed is what you are after, the Sony is hard to beat. Not aware of any consumer cameras that shoot faster or offer better video than the Sony. This is the true benefit of the slt design. For stills, up to ISO 3200, I saw no diferrence between the two.
