Should i go downtown on a P. A. Day and take pics with my nikon?

Should i be afraid of taking it out haha? I'm 13 and its a nikon D5000 I'm getting, and i love photography so i even want to take it out to the ski trip should i? I'm a good skier and don't fall this is the last trip and is on a pretty mountain should i take it? Or not risk it?

I'd be a little worried about the ski trip. You could be a great skiier but the person coming down hill behind you may be a novice. One bump and your D5000 may end up in the snow. There are no weather seals on the D5000.It doesn't take much moisture to damage a DSLR. If you have a secure, dry place to keep the camera then take some photos from the side of the hill, out of traffic. Then go lock the camera up and hit the slopes.
As far as a P. A. Day. I guess I'm a little out of touch. I have no idea what that is.
