Photography tips for my nikon d3000?

Tomorrow i'm going to be taking ictures at a cheerleading competition on my d3000, for those of you who have never been to one it will have similar lighting to a concert. The staium will be dark with the exception of the stage wich will be very brightly lit. My subjects will be fast moving also. Any ideas for what settings i should use?

Added (1). Last time i shot in Manual iso1600
i'd appreciate any suggestions on shutter speeds and apertures
and just about anything else

* choose the correct white balance
* use the ISO necessary to capture the action and deal with the image noise later
* shoot at the peak of action.
