I'm gonna get a Nikon D3100 DSLR camera and i'm trying to understand everything before i actually get it
please tell me these terms that i need to know for a beginner
i also like taking scenery or b & w photos
aperture
Depth of Field
ISO
rule of thirds
shutter speed ( what can it be used for)
and other terminology that i missed please tell me

Aperture is the diameter of the lens hole allowing light to enter, measured in relation with focal length makes the f numbers; it determines depth of field together with the focal length and the distance to subject; depth of field is the space before and after the focus plane wich is in focus and focal length is the distance from the lens center to the sensor. Iso is the sensor sensitivity, wich you can change along camera settings and shutter speed is the time the shutter remains open.
Rule of thirds is a compositional rule of thumb in where you divide the scene into a grid of three parts horizontal and vertically and position main points of the photo on its crosses.
