Nikon Speed light. SB 600, SB 800, Sb 900?
Which is the best nikon speed light for nikon d5000? Please share your thoughts…
The SB600 is no longer made and those that are still available are overpriced for some reason. I see them going used for more than I paid for mine new a year ago.
The SB800 is also no longer made.
Also consider the SB700, which more or less has replaced the SB600.
So the only real choice you have is between the SB700 and SB900. The SB900 is a large, heavy flash and is probably overkill for most situations. While more powerful than the SB700, most of the time you do not need that extra power.
Since the SB700 is $150 cheaper than the SB900 and has almost all of the same features (at least the ones you will actually use), I'd go with that. While is is 20% less powerful, remember that light falls off at an exponential rate, so more power does not give you as much additional range as you might think.
