NIKON D5100. Should I remove the battery when not in use?
NIKON D5100… Should I remove the battery when not in use?
Why on earth would yo… Oh, never mind.
No, you should not.
No
Li-ion batteries do not suffer from leaking if not used for months.
You should charge the battery the night before you plan on using your camera
As others have written there probably is no problem leaving the battery in the camera. But me, well I'm cautious to a fault with my gear. I always pull the battery when I'm storing my gear, even over night.
On a daily or weekly basis, no.
If you're storing your camera longer than a few months, yes. The camera does put a minuscule power drain (< 200uA according to the repair guide on the D40) on the battery, even when the power switch is in the off position.
