Nikon d5100 bracketing

So I'm having trouble with my nikon d5100.It is bracketing automatically, even when I don't hold down the shutter. For every three pictures, even if they are of different things, it still is bracketing somehow. The first one will be underexposed, second normal, and third, overexposed. I do not want to be auto bracketing every time I shoot, and I'm having trouble making it so that sometimes its on, sometimes its off. Any suggestions?

Read the manual & turn OFF automatic exposure bracketing.

If AEB is turned on, it doesn't matter whether you hold down the shutter or not, it will still bracket the exposures.

Turn off the auto HDR feature and take control of producing your own HDR images.

In real practice, you have to assure that the overexposed images are overexposed enough to provide good detail in the shadows. The same when it comes to the underexposures. Enough to capture the highlights with detail This can mean you may have to take up to 7 different exposures to assure you capture the full dynamic range of the scene.

Hoping that a pre-programed feature can always produce what you want or need is just that, a hope.

Learn to take control of your fine camera so that you get the images you want. This will require that you learn at least the basics of photography
