Nikon D5000 prints out dark when taken inside?

I have a Nikon D5000. When I take a picture inside the house and print it out, my picture prints kind of dark and i have to adjust the D-Lighting to high to make the pic look presentable, but when i take a pic outside it prints out just fine? It's looks fine on the LCD screen also, just when i print a pic that has been taken inside. I'm also using a speed-flash SB-700.

Some examples would help. Sign up for a free flickr account, select "show exif" in the privacy settings. Upload a few examples of good and bad shots and post here.

So adjust your ISO or aperture to create a proper exposure. I'm going to assume that you know how to do that since you own a fully adjustable DSLR camera…

Cameras are not perfect. If you find that the camera in certain light conditions is off you can use EV to up the exposure. EV allows you to adjust the measured exposure, the camera measured exposure by +0, 3, 0, 7, 1. And so on but also can allow you to go down.

So if you think that the pictures are nicer inside with a bit more exposure, more light, then put the EV mode when shooting inside on EV +0, 5 or +1 even just to try.

I know my camera can be off at times.self I fix it in RAW, shooting RAW is a whole different thing really that you can look up what it means and what it can offer you. But I shoot in raw and later on the laptop I can adjust exposure pretty well. If needed pushing it a bit up.

If you are comparing a flash picture to an available light picture, you probably need to adjust the exposure compensation for the flash. I think you make the adjustment in the flash unit.
