Nikon D40: Is there away to get the camera specs on the camera's screen?
Added (1). Jim. How do I access the exif data?

What specs? Specs of the camera? Or things like aperture value, shutter speed, etc?
if it is the second, just press the info button

The cameras specifications are in the user manual
If you are asking about the cameras settings, most of the important ones are shown in the viewfinder.
To get the most shots per battery charge it is best to keep the LCD shut off

If you're talking about the shutter count probably not. But, it may show up in the camera's exif data.

Once the photos are on your computer, right click on one and choose, 'Properties,' that's your EXIF (exposure information) data.
