Nikon D40 help (how to turn off flash in portrait mode)?
Could somebody please explain something to me. I want to set the camera to portrait, not to no flash. But I want no flash in portrait mode.
LOL there's NO portrait mode. The P stands for program and it automatically activates the flash if thee is not enough light to prevent blur
Do you have the user manual?
That would help you a lot.
You can download it for free from the Nikon website
Page 35 of the user manual. Press and hold the flash symbol button (lighting bolt) on the side of camera next to lens release button, and turn the command dial until lighting bolt with line through is visible in LCD panel.
The button that's circle in red.
Shoot under great lighting conditions to prevent the flash from popping up.
