Nikon D3100 settings for stadiums and football?

I have been using a Canon Rebel for about 3 years now and recently upgraded to a Nikon D3100, I was shooting in manual mode with an ISO of 1600 on the Canon, would these settings work for my Nikon as well? Or are should I adjust my settings to something else for the Nikon? All answers appreciated.
Added (1). They're flood lights and I go back and forth between the crowd and onto the field. And everything I know about photography, I have learned through experimentation, excuse me for not being an expert.

What kind of lighting are you using?
Indoor? 3200 ISO with the white balance set to incandescent or better 3130 degrees Kelvin
Outdoor? Probably 400 ISO, white balance set to bright sun.
No mater what the lighting, make sure that your shutter speed is set to 1/500th or faster

Every DSLR works the same. You didn't upgrade. You traded a canon entry level DSLR for a Nikon entry level DSLR. 1600 iso on a canon is the same as 1600 iso on a Nikon.

There are no magic settings…
you would need to learn and experiment to see what the best settings there are for you, your camera and the lens(es) you are using…
what is the lighting like? Where in the audience?
have you learned nothing in 3 years about the basics of photography?

Fhotoace is correct, however I will add that make sure you have a suitable lens as well. The kit lenses won't really cut it in those situations. You're just too far away.
