Nikon D3000 lenses macro Vs Potrait?

I'm thinking of buying a - Nikon AF-S Micro NIKKOR 60mm f/2.8G ED Lens. It's gonna cost me around $600 - 700… BUT. If i buy a "Nikon 85mm f1.8 " for $300 - 450 +Extention tubes for $250 will i get the same macro options?

More or less. With some good tubes you'd get more magnification. The 85mm will not autofocus which will not be an issue for macro but may be annoying for portrait work.
Nikon also makes a 85mm f3.5 macro.

I'd go with the 60mm, also not bad for portraits and it has that nice macro feature.

The Nikon 85mm prime lens is tack sharp & great for portraits - don't ruin it by putting extension tubes on it. It won't autofocus on your D3000 either.

If you want true macro, buy the 60mm macro lens. Or consider buying the Sigma 50mm f2.8 macro. Cheaper than Nikon but still good quality. This is a macro shot with it on a D300;

you'll need to manually focus it. It's also a great portrait lens.
