Nikon D3000, doesn't show how many pictures remaning?

Can someone tell me whether it is possible to display the number of pictures remaining on this camera the same way a digi cam would?

It does display it, both in the viewfinder and on the back LCD. Perhaps your memory card is huge and there are more than a thousand images left; in that case if just displays how many thousand images are left, e.g. "2K" for anything between 2000 and 2999.
