Nikon 55-200 lens good for a d3100? And olso does it have auto focus?
I want it to be a good lense with auto focus for my d3100… Is it?
Yes
it nicely complements the kit 18-55
and since it is AF-S, it will autofocus on your camera.
Assuming you are referring to one of the two currently produced Nikon 55-200mm lenses, yes it will autofocus as they are both AF-S.
The difference between the two lenses is that one has Vibration Reduction and the other does not.
Here is a comparison between your kit 18-55mm and 55-200mm lenses and the $850 Nikon 18-200mm lens.

The 55-200mm is a tad bit soft at 100mm and again at 200mm. However, no lens is perfect, and over all not that bad of a lens.
