Nikon 50mm f/1.4g or Sigma 50mm f/1.4?
Which lens would be better for my D7000? I've seen mixed reviews; some praising the Nikon and others saying the Sigma is better.
Added (1). I will mainly be using it for portraits and other general uses. I can afford either of them. I've heard the Nikon generally has better overall performance, but I don't know which to choose.
Question is, which can you afford? And what do you need it for?
While the 50 mm lens is a great portrait lens, it is not really considered a "general purpose" lens nor are any other medium telephotos.
Do what the pros do. Buy the lens made by the maker of your camera. Those lenses are known to last for more than just decades. My NIkkor 50 mm f/1.4 is over forty years old and my Leica 50 mm f/2 is about forty-five years old and they work just fine
I don't know of any generic lens that can boast that
- Can you use a Sigma 50mm 1.4 ART or any Sigma ART series lens on a Nikon D5100?
- Do I get a Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 or a Sigma/Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 OS/VC for general shooting?
- Sigma 50mm 1.4 or Nikon 50mm 1.4g?
- Sigma 18mm-125mm or Sigma 18mm-200mm for a Nikon D5100
- Get a Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 or a Sigma 17-70 f/2.8-4 Lens? A monitor vs a TV?
