Nikon 1 v1 VS nikon d5100?

Which one is better?
i'm upgrading from a good point and shoot to a better system
i found these two cameras around the same price range and i don't know which one is better
i'm enthusiast / beginner
i do macro, landscape and portraits sometimes street or action
what one is best for me?

The D5100 is better
the Nikon 1 is a mirrorless camera system with a much smaller sensor than that of the D5100's
however, for what you want to do, what really matters are the lenses you choose to do said things with.

Just looking at the sensor size should give you a huge clue which camera has the potential of performing better.
You wish to shoot macro (you will need a macro lens - like the AF-S 60 mm f/2.8), landscapes (look at the AF-S 10-24 mm wide angle lens), street (actually the AF-S 18-55 standard lens is fine for this) and action ( AF-S 18-200 mm or AF-S 70-300 mm)
NOTE: The two cameras are really designed for different users. The D5100 is an entry level dSLR for those who want to eventually build a good size camera system and eventually buy a more advanced camera both, this after five or six years learning how to use a fully adjustable camera.
The Nikon 1 series camera is more for people who want the versitility of a fully adjustabe camera, but the size of a P&S bridge camera.
Visit a proper camera shop and look closely at each camera and see which one fits your needs the best

The Nikon 1 is an EVIL camera - Electronic Viewfinder Interchangeable Lenses and these are nothing more than an over glorified, way - way over priced point shoot pocket toy. They don't even have a view finder.
Any dslr will run circles around any EVIL camera mainly because of the sensor size, the quality of the data handling and recording. And for the same money? Any dslr camera.

Nikon 1 is not a DSLR, it's an overpriced compact camera.

Actually, Nikon 1 V1 is not a D-SLR and belongs to the Nikon 1 System of Nikon Cameras! If you really want to upgrade from point and shoot to a better system then I suggest go ahead and get D-SLRs though Nikon 1 V1 is also good but still the features of D-SLRs are different and awesome. Better read reviews of these two cameras and compare them.
