My Nikon D7000 isn't shown when connected using Lightroom 5?

So i haven't used lightroom 5 in ages and never use to have problems with it, but for some reason my camera isn't showing up when using the tethered cable to connect it to my mac. This is a problem because i want to import photos from my camera and eventually export.

Try another cable.

Personally, I don't know anyone who still downloads images via the camera. Do yourself a huge favor and get an external USB3.0 card reader. If your computer only uses USB2.0 (white port), that's okay because all USB3.0 (blue port) devices are backwards compatible. BUT! If your computer does have USB3.0 ports, you will experience download speeds 10x faster than using your camera. Plus you won't have anywhere near the connectivity issues you're likely to have when using the camera. When you consider the benefits and that the reader is less than $20, it's a no-brainer.

In the mean time, check to make sure that the cable is in good condition, and is full inserted into the camera and computer. If this doesn't help, then unplug the camera and shut the computer down. Restart it, and once fully booted up, then plug the cable into your camera. Then, of course, you'll need to turn it on before your computer will recognize it. Read the manual, some cameras require that you place the dial in movie mode or playback mode otherwise the camera won't be recognized by the computer.
