Manual focusing on Nikon D3100?

I could be blind but it doesn't look like there's a way to manually focus with the kit lens or while recording video? Advice? Help? Tips? I just bought this camera last night so haven't had much time with it as well but thought I'd ask!

Added (1). I did switch it to M and it is the 18-55mm lens

If it's the 18-55mm lens, then there's a little slide button that says "A -- M", and switch it to M.

Then use the very front part of the lens, and move it left and right, and you will see the focusing range (from like 0.3 feet to ∞).
