Is the Nikon D3200 still a good DSLR?
I'm looking to get my first DSLR. I was looking at the Nikon D3200 as it is good for both pictures and 1080p videos. I only really looked at Canon and Nikon as there probably the most well known for DLSR. The 600D doesn't have auto focus, I think the D3200 would be the best choice for me. The only thing that put me off it is the fact the it is a few years old. Is it still a good pick? Or is there something else in that €400- €500 price bracket that i have just not come across yet?
Added (1). I also looked at the Canon 100D and 1200D
Honestly, another question that just screams…'Troll'.
You seriously need to go right back to the drawing board… Pop into the local library and beg, steal or borrow a photography guide book, you'll get all your answers in there and it will prepare you much better for choosing the right camera for you.
After you have read the guide and you are confident that you actually understand what i'ts going on about… Give 'You Tube' a visit and watch some of the reviews/comparisons on Canon, Nikon, Pentax and Sony cameras… I don't like the Sony electronic viewfinder… It might suit you though… That is my point… You need to work out what's best and invest in that.
Your local camera shop… One that sells cameras not washing machines would demonstrate the options in your price range/budget… This is a good route it lets you handle the cameras and that helps you size them up… You'll be able to sense if they feel right and you'll find one brand easier to navigate… The quality between brands is pretty equal… So get yourself to the local camera dealer.
The 600D does have autofocus… That's why I know you're in trouble… You could be doing with some help.
Its definently a good beginners camera!
It's not as good as the Pentax K-500 on paper, and can't shoot video as well as the Sony A-58, but it can match the EOS 1200D.
If you're serious about buying (and learning to use) a DSLR, look at All the alternatives before you commit yourself, not just the two who yell at you that they're the best.
First the 600D does autofocus. All but the very cheapest digital camera will autofocus. Maybe you mean autofocus during video. That is best done either manually or with a camcorder.
The Nikon D3200 is a fine camera. That it is a little older does not diminish its capabilities.
Other cameras in that price range I think you should consider are The least expensive DSLR's are the Sony Alpha SLT-A58 - $450, Canon T3 - $400, Nikon D3100 - $425, and Pentax K-500 - $470. Second Level Canon T3i - $550, Canon T5/1200D - $500, Nikon D5200 - $700, Sony SLT A57 - $750, Pentax K30 $580.
"Still good"? What does that mean. Let me see, that must mean that you think because it's an earlier model it has somehow changed into a bad camera… What rock did you crawl out from under… Where have you been?
I upgraded from my D40 to a D3200 a few months ago and I love it!
