Is it possible to locate nikon with a gps device?

Today my girlfriends D7000 was stolen but she had a gps device for nikon which can save coordinates to the details of the photo when captured… Maybe I fantacise but i want to know if there's a way to locate the device… I doubt it, but its worth asking…

Sorry to disappoint, but a gps receiver for a camera does what it says: it receives satellite signals to calculate its position and include the coordinates in the image file, it doesn't send out any signals so you can trace the stolen property. But it wouldn't be a bad idea if they did though.
