Is 55-200mm lens good for newborns?
I have a Nikon D5100 with the 55-200mm lens & when my baby arrives I want to take my own photos of it at home by a window using natural light. Is my 55-200mm lens good for that? If so, how can I make the lighting very well without using the flash? Also with fast shutter speed in baby moves!
The 55-200 isn't your best bet, try it, if you can work with it then by all means use it, to help with light I'd recommend a reflector they aren't that expensive and they actually do make a big difference, if you want some tips and decent advice on photographing newborns give You Tube a visit.
The lens not particularly suited to portraiture, but it will do, although you will have to stand back a bit. For lighting without a flash, you could use some kind of continuous lighting, or use daylight coming in through a window.
For portraits on your camera the optimal lens for portraiture is something like a 50mm f/1.8 - it has a nice wide aperture so lower lighting isn't as problematic - luckily it's cheap.
No.
Actually, it's the other way around. The lens will get messed up with goo and poo which you surely don't want to get over the glass and everything.
Shoot near a sunlit window.
