I need a cheap DSLR that can deliver photos like THESE?

I was thinking something like a Nikon D40 or a Nikon D5000. The photos from that blog are taken with a camera from the Canon 1 Series and she uses wide angle primes… (I asked her via email.)

I want the effects also. That soft dreamy effect… It's probably done with photoshop right? If so, is there a name for it? How does one achieve it? I've wanted to know for the longest time.

Any DSLR should be able to achieve those photos, it's the lens (and photographer skill) that will make a difference. That picture was taken with a Canon 1D Mark IV according to the EXIF data. That effect is from post processing. I can make this effect in Adobe Lightroom, a program I use to edit my photos and is specifically for photography. There's a preset that can make pictures look like this or you can do it manually if you know how to manipulate the color space.
