I have a problem with my Nikon d3100 camera?
My nikon d3100 camera works well but one time my sister dropped my lens (15-88mm) and now when i put it on it reads it but the capturing is dark and it gets darker when zooming could this be the lens or some kind of setting in the camera?
Hi
I think you need changed your lens as soon as possible.
Take your camera outfit to someone who can check the camera over and let you know what the problem is. It is difficult to determine without a lot more information and/or seeing the equipment first hand.
Sounds like internal damage to the auto-aperture in the lens. See if the metal tab in the back if bent or has problems sliding along the slot in the lens. That's the external part that couples with the camera body.
Zooming the lens SHOULDN'T affect the aperture that much, though with the kit lens it does change the maximum f/stop from f/3.5-5.6.
Take the camera and lens to the nearest real camera shop or authorized repair center, not Walmart of Best Buy. They can try the lens on a different camera body as well as try another lens on your D3100. An authorized repair center can also give you and over-the-counter estimate of the repair cost. Incidently, your sister should pay for this.
Here's a link so you can find your nearest Nikon Repair Center.

I don't think your problem is with your D3100, but with your sister. She needs to have your camera and lens repaired or replaced
Call Nikon at 800. NIKON-UX for help
Tell your sister to buy you a new lens.
