I have a nikon d60 and i can't get a clear picture with no flash. I would like to take some fall pictures of my family outdoors but do not want the flash to wash out the picture. What settings should be set to get clear non blurry pictures without the flash?

Learn to hold it properly and keep your shutter speed up.

Increased iso or use a larger aperture setting. Why do you have a DSLR if you don't understand something this basic?

Set to aperture priority mode using the smallest f/number at maximum ISO. You will be able to take a picture but it will be a severely grainy one. If you understand the principles of photography you should understand from the start that taking a picture is actually just capturing light. The lesser light you capture, the poorer the picture will turn out.

You see what you don't know about operating a dslr is holding you back. No one can tell you than because no one has exactly the same lighting situation you have and that's what really counts.

The best you can do is meter the scene and set those options as in shutter and aperture along with possibly ISO.

Try turning the mode dial to the sport setting, the icon that looks like a guy running or jumping. That will automatically up the ISO and shutter speed.

I noticed you are in Australia and are talking about fall pictures. Right now you are about a month away from the longest day of the years, which should put you at mid-late spring with fall 4-5 months off. And my Aussie ex-wife never referred to it as "fall", it was autumn. She thought it strange us Yanks calling it fall. It doesn't really matter, just interesting.
