How to restore the nikon d5100 back to factory settings?
How do you restore the nikon d5100 back to factory settings?
You can reset the 'shooting menu' options… And reset the 'custom settings'… I reckon that this would get you back to as good as factory settings… It's not something i'd want to do with my camera… I spend a lot of time 'calibrating' a camera to the way I like it.

most settings can be reset to their factory defaults by holding the "Menu" and "Info" buttons down concurrently for 2 or more seconds.
Page 58 of the manual contains more detailed onfo on this.
Nikon's site says the same thing… Https://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/17395
The only other info I could find is:
Reset all Shooting Menu options: Open shooting Menu, choose Reset Shooting Menu, and press OK.
Reset all Custom Setting Menu options: Choose the Reset Custom settings Option at the top of the custom setting menu.
Restore critical picture taking settings without affecting all options on the Custom setting menu: Press and hold the Menu button and the Info Edit button simultaneously for more than 2 seconds.
The internal built-in battery keeps the date and time intact. Until it loses it's charge, they will not be reset.
This did not wrk for me. Any other ideas?
The flash on my Nikon D5100 keeps popping up and on, even in bright light so over exposing shots. Not sure how to fix. Does it even when in no flash mode, but doing it on auto. Anything I can do?
