How to get my Nikon D3100 to take the picture RIGHT when I press button?

I'm a beginner and I can't figure out how to get my camera to take the picture RIGHT when I press the button.
When I press the button it snaps and the screen goes black like it took the picture but then it snaps again and it's like it took my picture late.

That's because your stupidly trying to use your DSLR like a point and shoot. Stop trying to use the rear LCD screen, and use the viewfinder like you're supposed to.

Get out of live mode. Live mode adds about 1 sec to the shutter delay.

When using live mode, you can't hold the camera properly, and you will also have more of a chance for blurry photos.

Live mode (using the LCD screen) should only be used when the camera is on a tripod or when you are taking video.

Couple of things… Both are operator error.

1. Get off of live view. Correct, that slows everything down. Get over using the screen, that's not the way dslr cameras are designed and it's really a gimmick trying to attract those point and shoot camera owner's who don't know any better. Learn to use the view finder.

2. Understand that even dslr cameras need time (much shorter than a cheap point and shoot) to focus and expose. If you don't understand that then you'll be frustrated with any camera you own.

A dslr camera is not a point and shoot - it's a different shooting environment all together. What you need to do is get over your point and shoot, very limited knowledge, and learn how to use a real camera.
