My nikon d90 got soaked in a flood for more than an hour. It was raining hard and i usually place my dslr on the floor. When we arrived home the flood was at a knee-level and saw my dslr bag floating with the cam in it. I hurriedly removed it from the bag. I didn't turn it on.removed the batteris and mermory card. I dried it out using the electric fan. What do I do next?

You contact whoever you had your insurance on the camera with and ask if they cover water damage.

If you don't have insurance then you cry.

Leave it for a while in a dry place. It may turn on again.also, call your home insurance broker as it should be covered on that.

Bummer… The best thing to do is contact Nikon (1-800-NIKON-UX 1-800-645-6689), and send the camera to them for a CLA (cleaning/lubrication/adjustment) and any necessary repairs (don't forget to remove the memory card).

I prefer to keep my camera gear in it's bags on a shelf in a closet. That way it is off the floor, and won't get wet/tripped over/etcetera.

Buy dry, uncooked rice (not the "make in one minute" stuff, but actually a bag of rice) and stick your camera in there. Rice naturally absorbs water and will take all of it out.

if that does not work (don't count on it), call nikon to get it fixed and see if your insurance covers it
