How much should I sell my camera for? - 1

I'm attempting to sell my camera and all the equipment for a fair price but still make money. Everything is lightly used, in great condition and perfect working order. Also, it all comes in the original packaging, manuals and all.

What I'm going to bundle to sell:
1- Nikon D60 Digital SLR Camera with Nikon AF-S DX 18-55mm lens (owned for just over a year)
2- AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G (used only twice)
3- Camera carrying case
4- Tripod (stands about 5 ft.tall)
5- Wireless remote for the D60

Added (1). The reason I'm selling is because I really need the money for bills, student loans, etc. Also, a friend of mine moved to Hawaii and a round-trip ticket to visit her will cost about $800.

I'm not selling because I'm tired of photography, but mostly out of necessity.

Added (2). Thanks for the heads up, but I'm in no way attempting to sale via Y! A. Just asking advice.

I believe a good 750-800 dollars would be a fair price.
I actually was thinking on buying a Nikon D90 but bought a Canon 60D.
can you explain why you want to sell it?

Sorry to hear that you have to sell your camera for financial reasons. I've been there and it feels none too good.

Be sure to check KEH, Craigslist, eBay and Adorama to see what similar set-ups are going for.

Keep in mind that giving up your dSLR is no reason to give up photography. 10s of thousands of P&S cameras are for sale on eBay on any given day. An older model 10MP P&S camera probably won't be too expensive.

The D60 isn't worth any more then $300 or so. Probably less.
The Nikkor 35mm should get you around $175.
The case really depends on the brand, use, size, etc. Anywhere between $5 and $100 or even more.
The tripod, again, depends on the condition, brand, type, etc. Could be anywhere from $20 to more than $500.
Wireless remotes are sold new for like $20 if you get an off-brand. So just say $15 or $20.

That puts you at anywhere from just under $500 to nearly $1000. Go to the camera store and have them look at your tripod and bag if you're not sure what they're worth.

You won't "make" money. You;re selling something that has depreceated so right off the bat you are losing money from your initial investment.

It's sad that you have to sell your gear to pay your bills… I'd say 800… Maybe 900 for the whole thing…
