Does this lense work with autofocus on my nikon d3100?
Here is the website. Will the autofocus work on it? Also what is the DI bit http://www.jessops.com/online.store/products/66332/show.html
AF compatibility? Yes! This Tamron lens has a built-in focus motor.
With Nikon lenses you'd need something with AF-S in the name… Which the affordable Nikon 70-300mm doesn't have - only the £430 version: http://www.jessops.com/online.store/products/35945/show.htm
DI means "Digitally Integrated". As far as I can tell this is just Tamron marketing nonsense, devised to add some impressive looking alphabet soup to product names: http://www.tamron-usa.com/...ogy.asp#DI
This lens is a nice choice if you need 'cheap reach'. The image quality, build quality, and AF speed will be mediocre and there's no image stabilization. All of this is to be expected for the price. Tamron also has a more expensive version ( http://www.tamron-usa.com/...d_a005.asp ) and that Nikon lens is better still. It's fantastic that you can get to 300mm for under £100, just don't be very critical.
