Does the micro-nikkor 200 mm lens work on the d5000?
I was interested in buying a micro lens, I liked the Nikon micro-nikkor 200 mm f/4d lens the most. I currently have the Nikon d5000 and I'm not sure if that lens would work on it. If not I'm probably going to have to buy the Nikon D7000 and then buy the micro lens I want. If anyone has any knowledge about this I would appreciate your help greatly. And I will choose best answer.
The Micro-Nikkor 200mm f/4 AF-D lens is an amazing $1, 600 lens. But, since it's not a AF-S lens with the built-in autofocus motor, it won't autofocus on a D5000.

If you are going to stay with the entry-level Nikons (D3000, D3100, D5000, D5100, etc) then consider the Nikon 105mm f/2.8 AF-S VR.

To be frank, the 200mm is a pretty long focal length for micro/macro work. I hope you're not trying to find one lens to cover all your varied needs, as a dedicated macro lens and a dedicated telephoto or zoom would serve you better.
